The holiday season is upon us and that means it’s time to head to the Oregon Zoo for ZooLights. This event takes place every year and it provides a fun-filled evening for couples and families. In addition to more than a million and a half festive lights, including the majestic tunnel of lights, there’s also a carousel, train ride, and photos with Santa. The train ride provides a look at lighting displays that would otherwise hidden. There are vendors available with hot food and drinks to keep you warm while you walk along the lighted paths.
I loved the combination of colorful light filled trees and other animal shaped light displays. It was also a pleasant surprise to experience parts of the zoo in addition to viewing the assortment of lights. While there I marveled at a sea otter, leopard seal, flying foxes, mountain goat, elephants, and penguins. It was fun to be able to visit exhibits of the zoo after closing time. I would plan for a few hours to get the full experience of this entertaining event. If you only have the budget to experience one festive outing make ZooLights your number one pick this year.
ZooLights will run now through January 7, 2017 and is free for members every day. For those that are not members, adult tickets are available for $14.95 and are discounted for value nights. Click HERE for more details on hours and ticket pricing for ZooLights.
