Thanksgiving Themed TV and Film Picks

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Written By: Stephanie Rose Csaszar

The day after Halloween does not equal the beginning of the Christmas season. Thanksgiving is one of the most underrated holidays but there’s a large number of TV shows and a few films that celebrate Thanksgiving. So before you put up the Christmas lights, listen to Christmas music, and get your tree, watch these Thanksgiving episodes and films before diving into Christmasland.

PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES

John Hughes classic.

“THE ONE WITH THE TRIFLE” | FRIENDS
Friends had more Thanksgiving themed episodes than any other holiday themed episodes. This is my favorite because all the story lines are hilarious. All the other Thanksgiving episodes are available on Netflix.

A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING

“THE TRUE MEANING OF SLAPSGIVING” | HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
Also available on Netflix are a few fun Slapsgiving episodes. Even if you haven’t watched the series they are still entertaining.

PIECES OF APRIL
A daughter invites her estranged, suburban family to have Thanksgiving dinner with her and her boyfriend in New York City. The most challenging part of the day may be just cooking the meal.
