Marvel Ultimates

By: Mark Lynch

Although the Ultimate Marvel Universe is dead and gone, that leaves plenty of time for all of you comic book fans to catch up and even start from the very first issue. Some of you might not want to start from issue one and just want a good story from that particular universe. So why don’t I give you five good stories from the Ultimate Marvel Universe.

The Hulk is set to be executed. Is Thor really not an Asgardian God? To top it all off, there’s a trader in the Ultimates.

Why It Rocked:
This book is like reading a movie. The drama, action, and betrayal make this a must have comic book.

Why It Rocked:
This was pretty much a giant fight between two universes. I may not be a fan of Greg Land’s art, but he did a phenomenal job drawing the fights and capturing the emotion on faces of each hero and villain.

2. Ultimate Comics Spider- Man “Death of Spider-Man” Issues 154-160
The title says it all.

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mark Bagley

Why It Rocked:
Spider-Man takes on Green Goblin, Electro, Kraven, Electro, and The Vulture all after being shot less than an hour prior. Peter Parker shows why he is one of the biggest bad-asses in the Ultimate Universe.

1. Ultimate Origins Issues 1-5
Learn the real secrets behind mutants, Captain America, The Hulk, how Nick Fury knows it all, and why he kept it a secret.

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis

Why It Rocked:
This series further proves the differences between the regular Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe. It gets a bit intense.
