By: Mark Lynch

2015 is over so bring on 2016. Now that the new year is here, how about I give you a list of some of the best Marvel Comics from 2015. So if you missed some comics this past year, here are some great arcs to check out.

5. Thors
Dr. Doom is god and his police force is run by different Thors and people with his powers and hammer. Ultimate Thor and his partner Beta Ray Bill lead an investigation of the murder of multiple Jane Fosters.
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artist: Chris Sprouse
Why it Rocked: How do Thors solve mysteries? Exactly like you’d assume they would. With hammers and beer. It’s a fun read and better than you’d expect considering the title and theme.

4. Secret Wars Old Man Logan
Old Man Logan is still trying to take the world back from the villains, when the head of Ultron causes Logan to leave his area. A move forbidden by god Dr. Doom.
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Andrea Sorrentino
Why it Rocked: This was the perfect introduction to Old Man Logan. A wiser and maybe more ruthless Logan. If nothing else, the artwork alone is worth the purchase.

3. Miles Morales The Ultimate Spider-Man
Peter Parker is back from the dead, Miles’ dad drops the bomb that he worked for Nick Fury years ago, and, to top it off, Miles’ girlfriend has a major secret.
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: David Marquez
Why it Rocked: Miles continues to show why he is going to be the best hero in all of comics one day. He’s a hero for the regular person.

2. Deadpool
With each new writer, Deadpool becomes a deeper and more interesting character. This new arc was no different.
Writer: Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn
Artist: Tony Moore
Why it Rocked: Funny story…extremely funny story and the depths of where Posehn and Duggan take The Merc with the Mouth is unforgettable and amazing.

1. Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows
What would Peter Parker’s life be like if he and Mary Jane had a daughter? What about if they had a kid in a place where powers were forbidden? In a word. intense.
Writer: Dan Slott
Artist: Adam Kubert
Why it Rocked: Not only was this the best book I’ve read this year, it’s easily one of the best comics I’ve ever read period. Dan Slott put his heart into this story and it shows. While it had all of your classic Spider-Man jokes and fights, you get to see Peter Parker as the father, husband, provider, and protector. A beautiful story.
