As dawn approached on the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem on Monday morning so did science lovers from not only Oregon but the entire country. They produced a long line outside the event and all ages and backgrounds were represented. Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) made sure to entertain people with science experiments and space talks while they waited for 10:18am to approach and totality to be reached.
When totality happened it wasn’t just a breathtaking sight to see of the moon and sun but of all of the people who made the journey to Salem. Everyone took of their solar glasses and marveled at one of the most breathtaking sights ever. Some wrapped their arms around their loved ones and others had tears of joy and awe streaming down their faces. It truly was the sight of a lifetime and OMSI made the day a magical one filled with entertainment and education.
Visit another OMSI party but this time make it a Star Party to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox. There are two different locations, one west and one east of Portland, on September 9th. For more information on Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) visit: https://omsi.edu/.
