Shaping Sound combines dance and storytelling at Providence Performing Arts Center

Shaping Sound left the crowd roaring with delight after their diverse dance performance which featured numerous genres of dancing and music as it told a story we can all relate to. Travis Wall, creator, lead choreographer, and star of the performance wanted to leave fans thinking about dreams and instead of running from them to face them. The show started off with “Broken in Chaos” featuring the whole company and the combination of music, lighting, and stage production left me in pure joy to be able to see such incredible dancers in front of me.

My favorite part of the show would have to be the clip featured below. The lighting, dancing, and emotion of the male dancers on stage made their performance of during “Bohemian Rhapsody” explode off the stage. Another favorite featured Ricky Ubeda and Travis Wall and to see two dancers I’ve admired for so long perform together on stage was magical. I really enjoyed that Travis Wall chose to feature a few scenes with two leading males. Shaping Sound wasn’t just a dance performance but a successful portrayal of emotional storytelling through skilled and heartfelt dancers.
