PREVIEW | Boston Calling Music Festival | Rose Rundown

By: Kristen Fiandaca

Music festivals—it’s the most anticipated part of my summer. There’s something so exhilarating about having the chance to see a ton of live bands outside in the beautiful, warm weather with thousands of other fans. And though summer may seem like a ways off, I’m already looking forward to the third installment of the Boston Calling Music Festival returning to City Hall Plaza from May 23-25th (Memorial Day Weekend).

While past lineups of the festival have included acts such as Vampire Weekend, and Fun., this year’s bill promises even bigger bands and artists, and the genres range from everything to indie rock to Americana.

I couldn’t be more ecstatic about alternative rock band, Death Cab for Cutie topping the bill this year. Ever since their 2005 release of their album Plans, I have fallen head over heels for them. And of course, hearing that Brand New is going to play feels like some kind of teenage dream of mine—I have adored their rough and heavy sound for as long as I can remember. I can only imagine what these bands will bring to Boston Calling after a long hiatus from playing around the area.

Indie-pop duo, Tegan and Sara will also be reigning the stage this year, adding their energetic sound to the festival, along with other popular acts that include Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse, and Bastille. Regular tickets range from $50-$175, while VIP tickets vary from $150-$375, and can be purchased HERE.
