Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra brings musical holiday cheer to Gresham

Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra brought the Gresham community together this festive season with their Christmas Classics Concert. On Sunday, December 10 Ken Selden, Music Director, and his talented orchestra played a beautiful collection of pieces at the Mt. Hood Community College. Music lovers of all ages found a piece of music to enjoy and ending it all with a wonderfully cheerful Christmas Sing-along arranged by Ken Selden.

I was in marching and symphonic band in high school and attending this performance reignited by love of orchestra. Although these musicians are much more talented than I’d ever be and diverse in age and background. My favorite besides the sing along would have to be the remarkable performance of Clair de lune by Claude Debussy. The music was high energy and you could see the passion in the performance of every musician and especially the conductor, Ken Selden.

You may have missed this particular performance but check out Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra’s next performance on Sunday, March 4 at the Mt. Hood Community College at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Donations are always accepted to support the production of music in East Multnomah County. Support local music!
