I could hardly contain my excitement pulling into the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island on Tuesday night when I saw a construction sign lit up with the words “Pumpkin Show.” Although the line did seem like it would take awhile, it didn’t take longer than ten minutes to locate a parking spot. After entering the trail and passing along options for food, beer, and souvenirs I was surrounded by illuminated pumpkins of all sizes at my sides and above me in the trees.
This year’s them for the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is “American Treasures” and other sections of the trail included Humanitarian Heroes, Endangered Species, Science Theater, and Backyard Garden. Some of my favorites included a display over one of the bridges dedicated to Tim Burton and included a few incredible carvings of The Nightmare before Christmas and Beetlejuice. I ran over to a carving of the new horror show Stranger Things and a spot on one of the cast of Bob’s Burgers.
Even if you’ve attended the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular in the past it’s definitely still worth attending year with the everchanging carvings from year to year.
